100 Mile Club

At the boy's school they have a program designed to promote physical activity called the 100 mile club.  Kids sign up to run as much as they can during the year with the hopes of being able to make the 100 mile mark.  This past Monday they had a family night on the track with a BBQ and an obstacle course to give the students more of an opportunity to get their miles done.  Donald ran three miles that night and Eli ran one as well.  They had the obstacle course along the track just to make it a little more fun to run and I just loved watching Eli overcome the obstacles, too cute!

Woo-hoo! Good job buddy!

When did Donald's legs get so long?

Eli was beat after running, so he took a little rest on his daddy.  What a great pillow!

King and Queen

Tonight we were watching a rerun of King of Queens and they felt like they had nothing in common and so to prove that they did they each wrote out a list of 20 things that they liked and compared them.  It turns out they got no matches, but I thought that it was a fun idea, so Don and I made lists of 20 things to see if any of ours would match.  Out of 20 we got 7 that matched.  So try it amongst yourselves, but remember that you have to answer what you like, not what you think your spouse would like- that would be cheating and the idea is to find out what you have in common, not what you know about your mate.

Wash Me!

This morning was the 6th grade car wash.  With all the budget cuts we have really had to work hard to raise money for fun stuff for the kids.  Anytime you take your kids to a new school there is always the fear that things won't be the way they should be.  I am terrible about that because I have such high expectations of education.  I need to just realize that no where is going to be perfect, but that we need to celebrate the things that they do right.  Today I was very proud of our school.  We had dozens of volunteers, hundreds of cars to wash and made over a thousand dollars.  Way to go gators!

Donald's teacher Mrs. Stevens, Donald says she is one of his favorite things at school.  She said that she has been waiting for this day because she can squirt the kids without getting in trouble (ha ha).

Regina's Wedding

Last night we went to my cousin Regina's wedding at the Orange Hill Restaurant in Orange County. It has the most amazing views, we are definitely going to have to go back for dinner sometime.
Look at the spectacular view!

Regina looked beautiful

Look how much they love each other- don't you just love weddings?

This is me, my sister Jana, my dad, and my uncle David (the taller one).
Rare photo op... My mom and dad, my uncle and my two sisters (I still feel like Rhonda is missing).

Sisters at the table, you could see all of Orange county from that window.  In fact later we watched the fireworks at Disneyland.

Our table

I miss my sisters, I really don't see them enough.

Me and Tina trying to squish Jana.  Check out the veins in our foreheads!

Picture with the bride and groom- Regina and Mitch.

Goofy pictures of us dancing.

Me and Julia (my other cousin, Regina's sister and bridesmaid).

The balcony was amazing at night with all the lights from the city.

The blue shirt crew- I asked them if they called each other before they got dressed.  This is Alistair and Benjamin (my second cousins) and Don of course.  They all work together so they must all be on the same blue shirt wavelength.

Didn't know Evan was there, but he made the picture cute anyway.

Tie Heads!  My uncle Karl is so cute in this picture.

I danced with my grandpa.

And my Dad.

Don and Ben danced (mysteriously this is going to end up all around the office -te he).

And finally Mr. and Mrs. Smith- Congratulations to these two sweethearts!

Sticky Snow Cones

Today I went to over to the boys' school to help out Donald's class with the 6th grade snow cone fundraiser.  It was fun to hang out with the kids and see Donald during the day, but it was very very sticky.   The students all took shifts working.  When it was Donald's turn he ended up pumping the syrup into the cones- messy messy job.  Those pumps can squirt pretty far so you have to push them down very slowly.  There were several kids who went home with snow cone syrup tie dyed shirts, Donald included.  It was so sticky that at one point I lifted my foot up and my shoe was left stuck to the ground.  We all have blue and red stains on our hands, but they made about $1000 just doing it the last four Fridays during lunch, so that definitely helps them with their goals for the end of the year activities.  All in all it was a fun, messy day!

Donald working the pumps, notice his red hands and the blue all over his shirt, yeah, we should have gone with a black shirt today.

The whole class after the mess was finally cleaned up.
I do have to say thought that even though they were messy, a nice lemonade flavored snow cone on a hot day..... was quite a treat.

Arrow of Light!

Last night Donald received his Arrow of Light and Weblos awards in Cub Scouts.  Now it is on to big boy scouts, but he can't start 11 year old scouts until December so we are just going to enjoy a nice little break for the next couple months.  Along with being in Young Women's, I was also a cub leader in Donald's pack.  It has been fun working with him and seeing him accomplish all his requirements.  Each week scouts may not seem like a big deal, but it sure does choke you up as your once little boy walks over the bridge that symbolizes his moving on to bigger challenges.  I am grateful that I got to be a part of scouts, but I have to admit I am ready for the break.  Good Job Donald, I am so proud of all you have accomplished and can't wait to see what you will achieve next!
