Merry Christmas to all our friends and family. We are spending Christmas week in Utah with my family. So far we have seen a lot of snow, slid all over the road and nearly frozen to death. Alright, so maybe that is a little bit of an exaggeration, but it is a lot colder than California and our sun craving, 50 degrees is too cold bodies are not used to it. We hope everyone one is having a great Christmas break, I know I am in no hurry for school to start again.
I can't believe he is growing up so fast. On November 30th Donald will be turning ten. It is strange how fast ten years flies by and before you know it you are paying for braces, helping him put in his contacts, and worrying about middle school. Instead of toys he wants phones and IPODs. He has been taking an air tricks class to learn how to do flips on is wakeboard. He also has been going to a golf clinic on Saturdays. He got on the honor roll and his teacher says that he loves his sense of humor. It is incredible that something that started out so small can turn into something so amazing and smart. Did this really start as two microscopic cells? It just makes me realize how much my Heavenly Father loves me to let me be a part of something as powerful as creating a life. I think sometimes we don't realize what a gift life is and how truly amazing it is that everything works the way that it does.
Donald is always telling me that Thanksgiving does not get its fair share of hype. We go straight from Halloween commercials to Christmas sales. So this year I want to say "yeah to Thanksgiving".
Five things I am thankful for (not necessarily in order):
My family
Knowing that my father in heaven is always there for me
This week we went to the Kern River with the Kaisers. Jason, Brent and Jared all kaiaked down the river while Don and I went down it on a splash shack (kind of like an inflatable canoe). We had never been down rapids before and it was a lot of work to stay straight. And if you don't stay straight it is very easy to fall over in the rapids. We fell about 5 or 6 times. Each time you fall- it is not like falling into a pool, it drags you under and throws you up and if you don't pull your feet up straight you can hit rocks. At one rapid we tipped and Don hit his ankle and I pulled my feet up to avoid rocks, but then got hit by one on my lower back and hip. Then I rotated and hit my knee. So now I have bruises everywhere including one that is about 5 inches wide. But it was an exciting adventure and we didn't do too bad for going down a category 4 rapid on our first time.
Aren't these the cutest boys you have ever seen? This was a trip to Lake Mohave at the end of June. We went with the Borings, the Emmons and the Kaisers.
The boys have started spring soccer. This is Eli's first sporting experience. It is very humorous and adorable. Donald is doing really well in a defensive position. They have won all their games so far and are having lots of fun. It is really neat to see them support each other.
