August so far

So much has happened this month and I don't want to forget some of these fun times.  At the beginning of the month we went to Lake Mead.  Swim has keep us pretty busy this summer so this was our first lake trip all season.  We camped the first night, but it was so incredibly hot that the second night we had to get a hotel.  We tried to be adventuresome, but nearly 95 degrees in the middle of the night in a tent with four people sucks! The next day was great though.  The weather was beautiful, the water was amazing and we got to spend some nice time by the dam climbing the rocks with friends.

About a week and a half later school started again.  This year Donald is in 8th grade! Ahhh! and Eli is in 3rd.  Crazy kids just won't stop getting older.  I feel like Donald just barely started 7th grade, what happened to that year?  This year Donald actually has a very cool schedule for an 8th grader.  He has Homeroom (ACS), Honors US History, Choir, Honors Language Arts, Physical Science, and Geometry.  Then because he swims so much he is enrolled in Independent Study PE and so he gets out of school at 1:19.  He loves not dealing with overcrowded, punk kid filled PE and he loves getting out of school early everyday.  I like it because I don't have to deal with pick up traffic and he has an extra hour to get his homework done before swim.  8th grade is also better than 7th grade because they already have friends in all of their classes so they don't feel so alone.
The second weekend in August we had a BBQ/pool party at our house for the upper group of the swim team.  Lim brought Kabobs, yum!  The next day were the Eastern Committee Championships.  This year they were held right here in Corona.  Donald had 6 events including two relays and he cut over a minute off his 500 free style (that is 20 laps).  This weekend Donald is camping and fishing with Scouts.  What a busy August we have had and there is still a week and a half left.
