Eli turned eight on July 22nd and that meant a weekend full of fun. On his actual birthday he got cupcakes and singing at swim, along with our team's tradition of the gauntlet. Something especially fun for Eli is that our head coach John's birthday is on the 24th so they got to celebrate it together. I made both of them their favorite cupcakes and they swam the gauntlet together. Then we all went out to dinner and then he got to open his presents.
On Saturday we had a little invitational meet in Glendora. Eli decided that he is ready to go to small meets again, but nothing too big. This was a good one for him and he dropped some time. Also he never came in last and even got a 4th and a 5th place ribbon. Donald really was a little too good for this meet, he took all 1st places by at least half a lap, but it was a good practice for him. The funnest part for Donald was that Coach John decided to enter both himself and Donald in the 13-14, 100 Breast event. Donald won't be 13 until November so it wasn't really official, but John used to be a Breaststroker and Donald is one of the best Breaststrokers on the team so he thought this would be exciting for them to race against each other. And it was! The whole team was cheering for Donald and they ended up beating half of the 13-14 year olds, but Donald finished about half a second after John. He was a little bummed, but now looks forward to a rematch. I got video of it on my phone, but can't get it to transfer over. Here are some videos of Eli swimming though
Sorry that they are sideways, I can't figure out how to turn them.
After the meet was the best part because Eli got baptized on Saturday as well.
Then he had a big backyard party with swimming, food, family and friends. I didn't get many photos at the party mostly because Eli was so busy playing with his presents and I was too busy eating all the yummy food. What a fun weekend we had!
Happy Birthday Eli, I am so proud of you for your decisions and am so grateful that I get to be a part of your life! Love you!
