Getting Old!

This saturday is my 31st birthday.  I know that doesn't seem that old, but the thirties certainly feel older than my twenties did.  Birthdays just aren't what they used to be.  Now they are just another day that reminds you of all the time that has past leaving you with only memories.  So to everyone out there- Live life so that the memories you make are amazing ones that you love to remember, because some day that might be all you have left.

When it rains it pours!

Doesn't it always seem that problems travel in groups.  This weekend our fridge broke and all our food wasted.  So not only did we have to go buy a new fridge, but I had to go replace all the food that was in it.  Although Kyra (thank you) did save some of it for us. Now everything else seems to be going south.  I could just be that once you get in a certain mood everything sucks or that my luck just sucks, but regardless of what it is, I have had a tuff week.  Thank goodness my kids give me something to smile about.
Cute story- Eli scrapped his arm the other day riding his scooter.  I put one of those antibiotic bandaids on it and the next day he looked at the gooey scab through the edge of the bandaid and said "MOM- MY SKIN IS MELTING!"- ahhh, I love my children!
Tonight after I went to the grocery store I was putting away the cookie dough ice cream I bought for the boys.  Donald came over and squished me tight in a hug and said "You are the best mom that ever lived."  I wish my mood was that affected by ice cream.

Here Comes 2009!

I have to admit that I am very bummed about having to go back to school.  This break has been so relaxing and nice to be home with my kids that I don't ever want it to end.  Finally I am getting things done around the house unlike before Christmas when I was so busy that I completely forgot to send out Christmas cards.  Sorry to friends and family, you know I love you anyway, my mind is just always full of school stuff.
Well here is an update of our family for the end of 2008 and finally starting 2009!
Don is still working at Foothill, but he has also been coaching baseball at Lakeside.  This year he is working with the Varsity kids, I wish he could do that all the time, he really loves it.
I am still working at Lakeside teaching Science.  This year I started the Lakeside Science Club and it is one of my favorite things about working there.  In November we had a big rocket launch and in December we went to Donald's school to do a human body activity with the entire 5th grade class.  I am really looking forward to February because we are going to the Griffith Observatory.  Also this year I have started writing a book (okay it might totally suck, but might as well try), so far I have written 120 pages, that's farther than I ever thought I would get, so at least I have accomplished something.
Donald is in 5th grade, which makes this his last year of elementary school.  That is actually one of the biggest worries in my mind right now.  He got braces and contacts this year, and I think he is growing up way too fast, his feet are the same size as mine already.  Although, it does make buying him new shoes a lot easier.  He has been taking a wakeboard trix class and can now do complete front flips on a trampoline.  He has also been learning to play the trumpet, but I think we will be going back to the piano, since he can probably get further with it, and we like the sound of it better.
Eli started Kindergarten in August and he really loves school.  He likes his teacher and it is amazing to see him learn so much so fast.  He tried wakeboarding this past summer so hopefully next year we will be able to add his picture to our wall of wake.
We still live in our house in Lake Elsinore and spend most of our summer at the Lake.  If I could just move my family to the Lake and be wake bums I would do it in a heart beat.
Well, that's about all we have been up to this past year, nothing really exciting, just life as usual.
We hope that this year is amazing for everyone and full of great opportunities.
Happy New Year!
