In a crafty mood

This February I felt a little bit crafty so I tried a couple cute things that I have always wanted to try.

I've always wanted to use my cricket to cut vinyl.  I know to most people that it not a major accomplishment, but I have had the vinyl for a while and I finally tried it out.  It actually worked a little better than I thought it would.

I have had this old frame for a while and I just knew that it could be turned into something cute, so I got some galvanized metal and ta da....a handy little bulletin board.

I have seen these little rosette balls on different blogs and I think they are so cute.  So I tried a couple of my own.  They take a lot longer than they look.  But here are my two attempts.

We also refinished an armore that we found on craigslist, I'll put those pictures up this weekend.
Feeling crafty?

Oh, and today I became an aunt again.  My sister had her little girl. 6lbs.13oz. Yeah, I can't wait to meet her.

"Happy" New Year

I have been so busy lately that I have not been able to post all the crazy things that have been going on, so I will sum it all up into one post.  These are the top five things of January that have so far made it a happy new year.

#1- We finished our kitchen chairs so now we can actually eat in our kitchen.

#2- You may notice that behind the chairs does not look like our normal kitchen.  That is because we refinished our cabinets and they make me so happy now.  They weren't that bad to begin with but the beadboard just makes them look so much better.  They seem a little dark in the pictures but in reality they are so cute.  I almost want to cook more because I just love being in there now.

#3- This month with all that we have been doing I have found awesome new uses for Mr. Clean Magic Erasers.  I know it may sound like a small accomplishment, but it made me happy.
I used it to wash the inside of my wheel wells when I washed my car and it completely removed the black road spots, I used it to remove marker that went through a paper onto my white desk, it gets black paint off the tile,

and best of all it gets that strange gunk off of the burner covers on the stove.

#4  I am so happy that within the next couple weeks my sister is going to be having a beautiful baby girl.  So I got to make a cute little pink blanket.  So soft!

and #5 -This one is the most exciting!  I finally got a contract at Santiago High School which means that after my online contracts are up I can just have one job and only do the online ones during the summer.  Just think of all the free time I will have.  Maybe now I will be able to get some sleep :).
A couple other things that we did in January....Donald cut some more good time in his events, especially the 100 Breast getting him only a couple seconds away from 13-14 Junior Olympics.  He got a bunch of cuts in November but then he went into a new age group and the times get much faster.  It was also my birthday in January.  Overall it has been a pretty happy new year.  I hope you are all having a happy new year as well.
