Crocodiles running wild at Raging Waters

On Tuesday our swim team went to Raging Waters
(Our team is actually much bigger, but only about 20 kids were able to make it)
Before we left for the park
 Those silly Crocs!
 At the park
Donald and Maiycon trying to dump each other in the wave pool

The whole older group in the wave pool
 The little guys
 Donald and Dylan
 In line for Thunder Rapids
Donald said this was his favorite run of the day.  Not only did he get to sit in between two girls, but he got to hear Chad scream like a girl.  Can't get better than that!
 I love Eli's face!
 Older kids racing

Smaller kids racing (I am the one on the far left- that's right...I beat the little kids:)
We all had a great time, which more than made up for the pain in the butt that it was for me to organize the whole thing.  I guess we will have to make this an annual event.

This is getting fun!

Last weekend we went to a meet out in Yucaipa.  Donald swam in four individual events and got first place ribbons in all four! Swim is a little weird in the way that it does it's awards.  As I have mentioned before there are different divisions.  Donald has red times in almost all of his events (he does have a couple blues and some whites in things that he has no official times for yet) and so he gets ribbons in the red division.  Since blue is higher (faster) than red there are still faster swimmers than he is.  So these ribbons are a little deceiving.  He wasn't the fastest in all his races, he was just the fastest in his division in all his races.  However, that is still really cool, especially for a kid who has not even been swimming competitively for a year yet!  Have I mentioned blue is his favorite color?

Boogie Boarding Boys

To kick the summer off we went to the beach on Tuesday.  Donald should have been born a fish.  It doesn't matter what kind of water it is, he can't get enough of it.
First he went boogie boarding with Rebecca and Jarom.
Then they finally talked Eli into trying it.
The cutest thing in the world is watching one son teach the other how to do something.
 Off they went!
 Eli had a blast!

Then they played in the sand.
And became one with the sand. (While pretending to be asleep).

Meet Manager

This past weekend was a little stressful, but my kids are worth it.  I am the meet manager for our swim team.  Up until last week that title meant that I coordinated the timing chairs assigned to our team at meets and organize the little I-meets (just our team at our pool) that we have once a month.  But last Saturday we had a dual meet at our pool and as meet manager that meant that I had to organize the whole thing.  That translates into many late night hours seeding over 300 entries.  I think I spent more time with those entry cards than I did sleeping on those nights.  But, it is all over now and it was a wonderful success.  Eli had a great time and got three ribbons (1 second, 1 fourth and 1 fifth place) and Donald placed 1st in four events (including two relays) and second in one event.
 Warm ups

 Eli diving off the block.
 Donald on the start block.
 Crazy kids
Another of Eli's starts, I just think that the little kid closest to the camera is hilarious.  Cowabunga!

I did it! I just hope it doesn't die!

I finally planted a garden.  I was going to do a 10x20, but once I started doing the work I cut it down to 10X10.  I just couldn't see myself dealing with 33 bags of garden soil.

I had to put chicken wire under it and a fence around it to deter the critters.  We planted corn, green beans, pumpkins, watermelon, cantaloupe, three kinds of peppers, cucumbers, tomatoes, basil and zucchini.  This was right after it was planted, which was about three weeks ago.  Now the corn is a few inches tall and everything is growing good.  I will put in an updated picture once we start to get fruit growing.

Eli's Last Week of School

I love the last week of school.  No more homework, lots of parties, field days and award assemblies.  I can't believe that Eli is now in third grade.  Here is his last week in a nut shell.

This was the 100 mile club award assembly.  Eli got his 100 mile medal and had a total of 107 miles.  Pretty good for a 7 year old!

This was the End of the Year Award Assembly.
And this was his field day.  In their first area they had to get marbles and golf balls out of the little pool with their feet.

 And they had snow cones!
 Water balloon games

 "Kid Wash"
And other relays.  Lots of fun in the sun!

Goodbye second grade, Hello third!
